Market visit is one of the most eye- opening activity for the vegetable farmers from the uplands of Palimbang and Sarangani. We interviewed possible buyers and consolidators. We also went to the mall so that they will see the demand, price and packaging of vegetables. Sizing up his arm, Manobo leader Mr. Lumawan Dewig compared the price difference between that little bundle sold in the mall and the buying price within their town. He said that for the P5.00 sold in the mall, they sold their onion chives as many as his lower arm’s thickness. With the exposure they had that day, the farmers saw that they can farm at a profit if their produce gets to the big buyers instead of just within their town. It was a very exciting day for us. I saw the farmers went home inspired.
